Typical websites commonly used socially between youths on the internet to listen and research music.

All three of these websites are commonly used all over the world by millions of people; therefore I’m sure that it is reliable.

·         1.10.10

In addition to discovering music promotion websites, I’ve found articles relating record labels to these websites and its effect on the industry.

Typed in name of music website and the words ’Record label’ on the internet and explored each sites relevance to the subject.
6. Wired is a digital internet magazine, although the info could be biased, all the of it gained is backed up by other websites. 7. A popular music radio website (reliable) 8.A new media website with reliable reviews. 9. Business website with up to date reliable news.

·         6.10.10

Along with a little of qualitative research, I am turning my attention to more quantitative research.

11.  ‘Digital Cultures- Understanding New Media’: Book from the Library. Pg. 92-101
Chapter by Jamie Sexton. Open University Press 2009.
The book came out of the Library; it contains a chapter on Digital music: production, distribution and consumption.
10. A complicated and in depth study of the music industry, the information is reliable due to the work and research got into writing it. 11. A popular website to buy music on CD’s and though Mp3 format, this is very reliable.
·         7.10.10
Quantitative research
14.  ITunes Podcast featuring Stephen Fry at the ITunes festival

13. Good because it contains lots of figures, but reliability is unknown, could be making it up. 14. From the mouth of SF, although a biased opinion it valuable because it represents the thoughts of the people.
·         8.10.10

A look at unsigned bands, and how they have benefited from online promotion.

Further look at quantities research.
18.  napster.com&geo=001&trait_type=1&lp=true

Music promotion on Google came up with websites relevant to bands trying to promote themselves on the internet.
Pasted the Napster URL in on Google ad planner.
15. An article/forum site where people can express their opinions on things. Reliable to a point where it has been written my an informed writer, hard to argue with it.
16. Very Reliable site to gain figures and statistics, through the most commonly used search engine in the world.
Websites not used
Thought I’d piece together all websites that I’ve come across which were useless to me.
Not useful websites
All were articles I had come across during the process of research.
Tainted by political opinion and class from newspapers, I didn’t want to get involved in that area of music. Wikipedia gave a vague explanation of music promotion which was useless and unreliable because anyone could have written it. BBC site was out of date and irrelevant.
